Ares is the god of war in Greek Mythology, contrary to Athena, he represents the destructive and brutal side of the war.

Ares and Aphrodite

Ares is one of Aphrodite many secret lovers. One day, they got seen by the god of the Sun, Helios, who hurried to inform Aphrodite's husband, Hephaestus.

To avenge this infidelity, Hephaestus forged an invisible net and put it above Aphrodite's bed. The next time the lovers were making love in her bed, Hephaestus caught them in the net, then he dragged them naked in front of all the Olympian. All the gods mocked the two, even if some gods would eagerly trade places with Ares.
